P3: Paintings, Poems and Pavilion

The Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science is pleased to present what is hoped will be the first in a series of special group exhibitions pairing the work of visual artists with the writing of poets. The P3 exhibition title is a cryptic reference to our alliterative working concept of Painters, Poets & Pavilion.
The Muses were sister goddesses from classical antiquity and the source of inspiration for poets, artists, musicians and philosophers. South Dakota served as the Muse for this unique artistic project. The P3 exhibition features collaborative artworks and poems created by twelve artists and twelve poets who live and work in, and are inspired by, South Dakota. The paired works that form this exhibition are a synergy of the visual image and the written word. The exhibition documents the reflective interaction that occurs between people who are intimately linked through a joint artistic endeavor and keenly focused upon a common vision. The remarkable results of their creative efforts are as diverse as they are surprising.
The Visual Arts Center and the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science wishes to thank the artists and poets for their generous contributions toward making this exhibition a success.
