At the Washington Pavilion we believe that learning is best when it is a true adventure, with teachers and students actively participating and sharing their passion for learning. 

The Pavilion's Department of Community Engagement and Learning strives to provide outstanding value to education in Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities, providing resources for educators at every level through exhibitions, outreach, classes, professional development, special events and programming,

Classes and Workshops are offered throughout the year for all age groups, interests and abilities.  Children as young as 18 months can be part of the learning process beginning with Toddler Art for ages 18 months - 3 years (with adult). Kirby Science Discovery Center

Overnight Camp-Ins for schools and groups
An all-night science adventure! Our camp-ins include special hands-on activities, a film in the Wells Fargo CineDome Theater, pizza, free time to explore our exhibits and breakfast in the morning. This is a great all-grade or school activity! 

Visual Arts Center

Gallery Insights
- a series of free public talks founded on current exhibits in the galleries. Topics are presented by an area speaker who specializes in the field of discussion. The sessions are free and open to the public.

Education outreach for the Visual Arts Center takes several forms, including the Oscar Howe Outreach Presentations.  Trained docents visit area 4th grade classrooms to present the story and paintings of Lakota Sioux artist Oscar Howe. This free program is designed to meet content standards in history and art. 

Husby Performing Arts Center
We offer a variety of workshops, acting classes, educational outreach activities and other programming in conjunction with the Husby Series, Washington Pavilion's Performance Season.
