Washington Pavilion Membership FAQs

When I buy a membership when can I begin using it?

If you purchased your membership at the box office you will receive temporary cards and most of your benefits will begin immediately. If you purchased your membership online, by phone or through the mail you should receive your membership card/benefits within 15 business days of purchase.
How long is my membership active? Your membership is valid for one year from the month of purchase. For example, if you join June 5, 2007, your membership expires June 30, 2008.

What constitutes a Membership for Two?

The cardholding member can bring any one guest with them on their visit, but the cardholder must always be present.

What constitutes a Household OR Grandparent membership?

The Pavilion considers a household to be two adults and all minor children under the age of 18 living in the household OR two grandparents and grandchildren under the age of 18. This membership cannot be shared between the two adults and their parents.

Does my membership cover my child care provider?

Your child care provider will need to be added to your membership prior to the visit. You can do this by calling the Pavilion box office at (605) 367-6000 or by calling the membership coordinator at (605) 731-2308. Your child care provider must present a photo ID and membership card at the box office window.

How do I know when my membership expires?

The expiration date of your membership is printed on your card. You will receive a renewal notice in the mail approximately 4-5 weeks prior to the expiration date.

Can member children visit when an adult member is not present?

Yes; children over 12 years of age should present the adult’s membership card at the ticketing desk. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Is my membership good at other museums?

All members receive reciprocal privileges through the Association of Science Technology Centers (ASTC). Contact other organizations before visiting to verify admission policies and hours of operation.

Can I lend my membership card to a friend?

No. Memberships are non-transferable and are intended for use by individual households only.

Why do I have to show a photo ID when I use my card?

We request a photo ID to help protect members whose cards might be lost or stolen.

May I use my membership toward a group tour?

Washington Pavilion members visiting as part of an organized group (i.e. school field trip, adult tour group), may not use their membership privileges for that visit. This policy has been established so that we may provide a significant discount and additional services for organized groups. No other discounts, coupons, or rebates will apply.

Once I have my membership card will I need to check in at the box office prior to visiting the Kirby Science Discovery Center (KSDC) or seeing a CineDome film?

Yes! You can pick up your admittance sticker for the KSDC and your CineDome movie passes at the box office.
